India Faces a Brand New Scandal
India is now faced with a BPO scandal-again. For the second time around, the outsourcing hub is now facing accusations from Australia’s television station, ABC's Four Corners. BPO employees were allegedly offering reporters from the said network personal information like banking pin numbers, passport numbers, and credit card details for only $10 each.
Australian police were summoned to investigate the claims of the TV station. On the other hand, NASSCOM, a leading organization that represents and sets public policy for the Indian software industry are also alarmed with the matter. In a statement released by the group, they expressed their intention of working with authorities to see to this matter immediately.
On the other hand, NASSCOM president Kiran Karnik said that this problem is a common one in different countries. Karnik also said that India is one of the safest outsourcing destinations, at least in a comparative sense.
