Opening markets
A top official of the Bush administration recently made a comment
that somewhat tones down the anti-sourcing backlash.
US assistant state secretary Cristina Rocca commented before an
international relations committee from Asia stated that the Bush administration
is "not opposed to outsourcing", referring in particular to India.
Denying there was any "India-bashing", Rocca, instead, says what the US
wants is opening of markets in India and other Asian countries which will
result to more jobs for Americans.
By fostering a sound business environment for American companies in the
East, the US government is hoping that all the furor associated with
outsourcing (read: displaced jobs) will die a natural death.
Indirectly, Rocca's comments affirms what pro-outsourcing advocates have
been saying all along.
Outsourcing generally improves the lives of people in countries like India
which makes these countries lucrative markets for American companies.
