Expansion fuels outsourcing deals
When it rains, it pours. Or in outsourcing, deals can come in twos or
threes in such a short period of time.
Indian telecom firm Bharti is reportedly in talks with Indian player Wipro
Spectramind to handle the former's call center operations.
Just last month, Bharti announced a ten-year deal with American IT giant
IBM to outsource its entire IT operations. The deal is worth 750 million
dollars, easily making it one of the biggest outsourcing deals to ever
occur in India.
There is no announcement yet on how much total value will the deal with
Wipro amount to. Bharti only said the plan coincides with its expansion in
India's Rajasthran area.
Expansion comes hand in hand with outsourcing deals.
Bank of America recently announced it will hire about 1,500 in setting up
a subsidary in India. Its operations in Hyderabad will assist workloads
from London and eventually from offices worldwide.
The bank has increased its earlier projection of hiring 1,000 Indian workers.
