McDonalds building outsourcing farm
Even old McDonalds' is turning to outsourcing to maintain quality of service
and put a smile to to its millions of customers everyday.
The fastfood giant recently signed a seven-year outsourcing deal,
reportedly worth 219 million dollars, with Affiliated Computer Services.
The deal calls for outsourcing of IT infrastructure requirements including
back-end support and help desk support for its North American operations.
Under the agreement, ACS will establish a centralize IT support office
that will absorb about 90 percent of McDonald's IT workers - something
akin to HP's deal with manufactuing behemoth Procter and Gamble although
on a smaller scale.
McDonalds farming out requirements to service providers is not limited
only to America.
In the Philipines, for example, Mcdonalds' local franchisee has outsourced
phone ordering operations to a local call center operator.
Under the deal, McDonalds will also eventually outsource orders made over
to the Internet to its partner.
As a form of bonus, the partner will provide Mcdonalds' a fleet of riders
who will deliver the orders to customers. Now that's a sweet deal.
