India's outsourcing "glow"

India's outsourced services is glowing these days, literally.

According to a recent report, a local jewellery export group is promoting India as a possible outsourcing site for Italian jewellery-makers, particularly from Tuscany.

Industry groups from both sides are working together to match companies in Italy with Indian jewellery-makers that satisfy their requirements.

Joint ventures between Italian and Indian companies eyed since there is a duty advantage also if jewellery items are exported from India than from Italy.

Italians have reportedly been eyeing such partnerships with the Indians even before any formal agreement took place. Italians were said to be showing keen interest West Bengal.

Earlier this year, Ambrogio Brenna, economy minister of the Tuscany, expressed keen desire to promote and lead a delegation of Italian jewellery manufacturers to West Bengal.

Outsourcing, indeed, is India's crown jewel, no pun intended.
